Rugby Independent Pubs – Who Are We?
This blog was set up by Paul Flintoft and Jeremy Sadler – two local residents who appreciate real ales and homemade food. The purpose of this site is to help promote and support independently owned pubs in Rugby and surrounding areas.
How Do We Do This?
We noticed that there is very little information of the Internet about pubs in Rugby and surrounding areas. Here’s what we would like to know:
- Which pubs are independent (i.e. not owned by Breweries)?
- Which pubs offer real ales?
- Which pubs offer proper homemade food?
- What is the atmosphere like?
- What entertainment do they offer?
- …and more
We aim to answer all these questions by visiting every single pub in Rugby and outlying villages (e.g. Newton, Clifton-On-Dunsmore, Catthorpe, Crick, Kilsby, Barby, Ashby St Ledgers, Braunston, Willoughby, Grandborough, Dunchurch, Church Lawford, Long Lawford, Easenhall, Hargborough Magna, Newbold and more).
This will be achieved by visiting the pubs over a period of time, sampling beverages and food, speaking to owners, staff and punters and writing up reviews of our findings. Some of these visits (including our first one on Saturday August 7th 2010) will be done in conjunction with a local charity. We will collect small donations on our travels.
